Monday, October 23rd – “Start Spreading the News, We’re Leaving Today!” Our nonstop flight will have us arriving at the JFK airport in the afternoon and our private motor-coach will transfer us to the world’s most beloved city, New York City. Comfortable accommodations await you at the Sheraton Times Square hotel which is located in the heart of midtown Manhattan. The Sheraton is conveniently located on Seventh Avenue near Carnegie Hall, fashionable Fifth Avenue and Central Park. Other attractions that are just a few blocks away include Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square and Broadway Theaters. This evening you will have time on your own to relax or explore in the “City That Never Sleeps.” Your Tour Director will supply you with plenty of options to fill your evening in this exciting city.
Tuesday, October 24th – In a city filled with famous cultural artistic centers, Steinway Hall stands as a musical treasure and the world;s most renowned piano landmark. It is here at Steinway Hall that Michael Ballam will provide an opera informance and short concert for the group and share some of his memorable experiences of living and performing in this exciting city.
Later this morning we will enjoy our Uptown Tour in our comfortable private motor-coach, joined by our local city guide, Ms. Franklin. This tour is filled with many great sights of the city such as: Columbia University, Central Park, Manhattan LDS Temple, Cathedral of St. John the Divine, Harlem, Apollo Theater, Museum Mile, Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. We will stop on Fifth Avenue where you will have time to enjoy lunch, visit the sights at Rockefeller Center and go inside St. Patrick’s Cathedral New York City promises and delivers the world’s top entertainment , and to night we’ll e treated to a grand Broadway production. A final decision will be made on June 15th to select the Broadway production for the group (a major musical performance with orchestra seating). Private motor-coach transportation will be provided from the hotel to the theater and return.
Wednesday, October 25th – This morning we will take a short walk from 7th Avenue to 6th Avenue where we will delight in a back stage tour of the magnificent Radio City Music Hall. On this guided tour, you’ll discover the art deco masterpieces, learn the secrets of the Great Stage, and even meet a Rockette! You have the afternoon free to take a bite out of “The Big Apple.” There is so much to see and do. You might enjoy a stroll down Fifth Avenue, visit on of the many wonderful museums the city has to offer, or join your Tour Director, Barry Knight, for a relaxing mid-day walk in Central Park. We have purposely left your afternoon free simply because Wednesday is a weekday that most Broadway theaters offer matinee performances. A few of the great productions now playing include: Aladdin, Amelie Bandstand, Beautiful, The Lion King, Wicked, Waitress, On Your Feet, Miss Saigon and many more. This evening our private motor-coach will transfer us to Lincoln Center where we will spend time at the world renowned Metropolitan Opera House witnessing Puccini’s glorious opera “Turandot.” Transportation to Lincoln enter for the opera is provided for the group. (If you prefer a Broadway production performance in place of the evening at the Metropolitan Opera, a substitution can be made with proper advance notice).
Thursday, October 26th – A special feature of this tour will be the opportunity to sit in on auditions held by Michael Ballam. Each year Michael travels from coast to coast to audition professional talent that would like to perform in Logan during the summer opera season. This morning you’ll get to experience several artists as they audition and share their beautiful voices in hopes of securing a contract with the Utah Festival Opera ad Musical Theatre Company. Later this morning we are off for an exciting adventure by embarking on a sightseeing tour of Lower Manhattan. To help us learn more along the route, our local city guide will point out interesting sights, with facts and information along the way. We will see the sites you’ve always heard of including: Times Square, Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building, Herald Square, Chinatown, Greenwich Village and more. We will make a lunch stop at the South Street Seaport Historic District followed by a drive through the Financial District, viewing Wall Street, Trinity Church, and the Statue of Liberty from Battery Park. A highlight will be paying our respects as we visit the National September 11th Memorial. Tonight is your night to do as you wish. You might want to enjoy a carriage ride in Central Park, or delight in a City Lights Harbor Cruise where you’ll have spectacular views of the Manhattan Skyline at night and also get up close to the Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge. Our hotel is in the theater district so perhaps another Broadway show is in store. Enjoy your evening.
Friday, October 27th – In a city that has so much to offer, we have kept your day free so that you can do as you desire. Perhaps a shopping spree is in order, lunch at Tavern on the Green, a view from the top of the Empire State Building or tour the United Nations Building. You can also join your Tour Director for a visit to the world famous Metropolitan Museum of Art (transportation and admission to the museum is additional). There is never time to do all the exciting things that this great city has to offer… .but have fun today trying to accomplish as much as you desire. For more than a century, Carnegie Hall has been known to audiences and performers alike as one of the world’s greatest concert halls. A jewel in the crown of New York City, this beloved venue has come to symbolize the pinnacle of musical achievement and the height of artistic endeavor. Tonight Carnegie Hall presents The New York Pops as they celebrate the greatest hits from Tin Pan Alley to today. What an evening to remember.
Saturday, October 28th –Before we give our regards to Broadway and leave the city, your Tour Director is thrilled to take you on the ferry ride where you will visit Liberty Island and marvel at the amazing Statue of Liberty. From Liberty Island we will take the ferry to Ellis Island where you’ll have time to explore this gateway of which over 12 million immigrants to the United States entered. We will meet up with our driver and motor-coach at Liberty Landing, New Jersey before reporting to the Newark airport for our afternoon flight home.
